Overview
A growing, private equity–backed manufacturing organization is seeking a Director of Accounting & Finance to lead financial operations at the business-unit level. This role is designed for a hands-on financial leader who thrives in operational environments and enjoys building structure, elevating teams, and partnering closely with plant leadership.
As the organization evolves its finance structure, this leader will play a critical role in strengthening accounting discipline, enhancing operational reporting, and supporting leadership with actionable financial insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day accounting and financial reporting for an assigned business unit or site
- Own the monthly close process, ensuring timely, accurate financial statements
- Partner with Operations to support cost control, productivity, and profitability initiatives
- Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
- Translate financial results into clear insights for non-financial stakeholders
- Establish and improve internal controls, policies, and financial processes
- Build, mentor, and oversee a local finance/accounting team
- Serve as a trusted finance partner to site leadership and corporate finance
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 8 years of progressive experience in accounting and/or finance
- Prior leadership experience managing or developing accounting teams
- Background in manufacturing, industrial, construction, or related operations-based environments
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with Operations or Supply Chain teams
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and performance analysis
- Comfortable operating in a hands-on, onsite leadership role
Preferred but Not Required
- CPA or MBA
- Experience in a private equity–backed or growth-oriented organization
- Exposure to multi-site or decentralized finance structures
Work Environment
- Fully onsite role at a manufacturing or industrial facility
- Occasional travel may be required based on business needs
