- Quarterly and Annual Reporting of Group Management’s Discussion and Analysis
- In coordination with the Group Reporting Controller, prepare the Group quarterly and annual Management’s Discussion and Analysis for with particular responsibility for the front operational and headline section of the document. Liaise with Finance Managers in operations, Senior Management and Director of Investor Relations, to ensure MD&A commentary is reported in a timely manner.
- Monitor the evolving disclosure practices of industry peers, including best practice disclosure by companies within the Canadian regulatory environment, on a regular basis. Benchmark companies disclosure and provide recommendations to senior management to achieve optimal disclosure and presentation
- Review and provide comments on other external documents as required.
- Attend quarterly Audit Committee Meetings
- Budgeting and Forecasting for Corporate
- Lead preparation of the quarterly forecasts and annual budgeting process for corporate costs within Toronto office, ensuring proper explanation is given for any variances and liaise with Heads of Departments as appropriate
- Act as a finance business partner to Heads of Departments, providing financial insight and analysis to support budgeting and forecasting,
- Report and present forecasts and budgets to Group management
- Liaise with Group Treasury and incorporate interest and finance costs and budget
- Liaise with Group Trading on metal streams and embed appropriately forecast and budget
- Forecast appropriate share based payments in accordance with IFRS 2
- Work with systems team to continually develop Planning systems and processes for corporate costs
- Financial and Management Accounting for Corporate
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes with a focus on continual improvement and timely reporting to Group Finance
- Oversee monthly cost centre reporting to Heads of Department together with monthly cost analysis and review
- Ensure proper accounting for interest and finance costs, metal streams and share based payments reported within corporate
- Ensure proper reporting on Asset Retirement Obligations in respect of closed sites at corporate
- Provide technical judgment and oversight on complex or non-standard accounting matters, including evaluating alternative treatments and alignment with Group policy
- Responsible for the review of all non-routine or complex journal entries for corporate and other journal entries as required.
- Oversee any changes requested and/or required for the ERP ensuring compliance with Group policies and procedures and adequate internal controls.
- Oversee year-end audit requests for corporate to ensure the provision of accurate information to the external
- Group audit team on a timely basis.
- Remain abreast of current and emerging IFRS accounting and disclosure requirements to ensure accounting policies reflect current standards and are compliant with Group accounting policies.
- Controls, Governance and Process Improvement
- Establish and maintain robust financial control and review frameworks
- Continuously streamline and optimise finance processes and systems
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements
- Leadership and Team Development
- Lead and develop a team of four direct reports (Supervisor, Corporate Accountants and Accounts Payable and Payroll Analyst)
- Provide coaching, mentoring and performance management
- Foster a collaborative team environment
- Payroll
- Manage relationship with outsourced payroll provider and approve and review payroll
- Review related regulatory reporting
- Provide guidance as required to the Accounts Payable and Payroll Analyst who liaises with outsourced payroll provider
- Projects
- Lead or contribute to special projects as they arise, liaising with the Group Reporting or Systems teams and/or Finance Managers at operations as required.
- Other
- Provide oversight of the Toronto office services function.
- Qualified CPA, CA
- At least 5 years of experience in a financial reporting role or within a management role in practice
- Experience of managing teams gained from working in a leadership role in a large international, publicly traded corporation or at a senior level within practice.
- Experience of budgetary control and cost analysis
- Work experience in the mining industry is an asset.

- Strong financial reporting and technical accounting expertise with an understanding of the complex reporting requirements of a multinational company including group consolidations.
- Strong understanding of financial controls and governance frameworks
- Strong analytical skills including cost analysis.

- Familiarity with ERP systems and financial reporting tools
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills across finance and non-finance functions
- Confident presentation skills with ability to communicate information clearly to senior stakeholders.

- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to trouble shoot technical and non-technical issues and be resourceful.
