Entry Level Patient Account Rep (Contract-to-Hire)

A growing healthcare organization is seeking a Denial Specialist to join its billing operations team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys problem solving, customer interaction, account resolution, and working in a collaborative team environment.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, persistent, customer-focused, and comfortable communicating with both patients and insurance representatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and resolve denied insurance claims.
- Communicate with patients regarding account balances, insurance coverage, and payment responsibilities.
- Follow up with insurance carriers on unpaid or incorrectly denied claims.
- Maintain accurate account documentation and records.
- Track claim activity and account status using spreadsheets and internal systems.
- Work collaboratively with team members while managing individual responsibilities.
- Provide professional customer service via phone and email.
Top Priorities
- Effectively communicate with patients and insurance representatives.
- Accurately maintain and update claim-tracking spreadsheets.
- Independently manage denied claims through final resolution.
Qualifications
Required
- Strong customer service experience.
- Professional phone and written communication skills.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
- Ability to navigate spreadsheets and utilize simple formulas.
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn new systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and remain accountable for assigned work.
Preferred
- Insurance, healthcare, medical billing, or claims-related experience.
- Experience working with accounts receivable, customer accounts, or account resolution.
