Fund Accounting Manager POST NUMBER: 477775
Our client, an established private investment management firm, is seeking a Fund Accounting Manager to join its fund finance team.
Location:
San Francisco, CA. This position follows a hybrid work schedule, 3 days/week in the office.
Job Description:
This role will be responsible for overseeing fund-level accounting and reporting for multiple investment vehicles while partnering closely with internal teams and third-party service providers. The ideal candidate brings strong fund accounting expertise, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee fund-level accounting and financial reporting for limited partnership investment vehicles and related entities
- Manage third-party administrators responsible for preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual fund reports
- Review financial statements, capital account summaries, footnotes, and fund performance reporting
- Monitor cash activity, including capital calls, distributions, and investment funding
- Prepare or review quarterly portfolio valuations in accordance with applicable accounting guidance
- Manage the annual audit process and support the preparation of fund tax returns
- Review the general partner's financial reporting prepared by external or internal resources
- Coordinate fund expense processing in collaboration with the management company's finance team
- Collaborate cross-functionally with legal, investment, investor relations, and other internal stakeholders on fund-related matters
- Mentor and support accounting team members as appropriate based on role scope
- Support ad hoc projects and initiatives related to fund operations and reporting
Requirements:
- 5 years of experience in fund accounting, public accounting, or private investment environments
- Strong understanding of fund accounting concepts, including capital activity and performance reporting
- Experience managing or partnering with third-party administrators
- Proficiency in Excel and comfort working with financial reporting tools
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA preferred
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities
