Staff Accountant
Location: Raleigh area preferred with regular travel to a manufacturing facility
Overview
A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations, inventory accounting activities, month-end close, and process improvement initiatives. This role offers exposure across multiple areas of accounting and operations and is ideal for an early- to mid-career accounting professional looking to grow within a manufacturing environment. The position requires periodic travel to a production facility to support inventory-related activities and partner with operational teams.
Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
- Maintain vendor records and supporting documentation
- Review, code, and process invoices accurately and timely
- Coordinate invoice approvals and payment processing
- Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies
Accounts Receivable
- Maintain customer records
- Generate customer invoices and sales orders
- Apply customer payments and reconcile cash receipts
- Monitor aging and assist with collection efforts
Accounting & Financial Close
- Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules
- Perform account reconciliations
- Assist with monthly and year-end close activities
- Ensure accounting records are accurate and properly supported
Inventory & Cost Accounting
- Support inventory reconciliations and cost analysis
- Assist with production and operational reporting
- Participate in physical inventory counts at manufacturing locations
- Investigate inventory and operational variances
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency
- Support system enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- 1-3 years of accounting or finance experience preferred
- Manufacturing, inventory, or cost accounting experience is a plus
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, and data analysis
- Experience with accounting software preferred
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Solid analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
