Our client is a diagnostics laboratory. They are looking for a Director of FP&A who will be responsible for advising and providing strategic business partnership to all Operations leaders across the company by functioning as an extension of their leadership teams and providing deep understanding of the key financial and operational drivers of performance, as well as financial insights and recommendations.

People Leadership
- Build a high-performance team and environment, implementing a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates engagement, an inclusive work environment, and open communication of vision/ values/ business strategy. Provide management to a team of five Senior Financial Analysts, including succession planning and career development.
- Working in conjunction with the Client Services, Lab Operations, Logistics and Medical Science / QRA segments of the business, establish a working partnership and framework to analyze and communicate results of these business units on a monthly basis.
- Responsible for oversight of the month-end framework, including traditional variance and trend analysis, performance monitoring, and visual dashboards to monitor financial metrics and progress against strategic targets. Responsible to proactively work with business partners to identify business risks and opportunities, and develop risk mitigation recommendations to assist them in meeting their business and financial objectives. Hold them accountable to their respective operating plans. Lead all operations financial reviews to senior management.
- Responsible for oversight of the planning processes across all operations functions, such as Client Services, Lab Operations, Logistics and Medical Science / QRA segments, development of the annual budget, three forecast updates per year, and the annual 5-year financial plan for the company.
- Partner with functional operations senior leaders to provide assistance in the development of financial and business projections/ assumptions. Ensure alignment of financial goals with the overall strategic objectives of the organization, ensuring that financial resources are allocated efficiently and effectively. Ensure key business drivers and assumptions behind strategic plans are viable and sustainable and integrated into the forecast model. Facilitate financial reviews for OPEX with the COO, the four VPs of Operations, the VP Commercial Finance and the CFO.
- Support the development of the management reporting to the ELT and the Board of Directors.
- Provide financial recommendations, strategic counsel and valuable insights, through leverage of analytical frameworks and tools to assist Client Services, Lab Operations, Logistics and Medical Science / QRA segments and the Commercial team in making data-driven decisions, including providing analytical insights/ costing to support pricing/ new business ventures/ new product lines, margin analysis supporting efficiency opportunities, test rationalization, product divestitures, capital investments, RFP, contract negotiations and ad hoc analysis as required to enable business decisions.
- Collaborate closely with business partners by offering financial expertise to support various initiatives and foster a culture of informed decision-making across operations. Operate as an extension of the business leadership teams and develop a keen understanding of the key financial and operational drivers of performance to provide insights and recommendations.
- Identify, develop and implement opportunities to consolidate, standardize, streamline and automate processes within the team and the broader Commercial Finance team to deliver more efficient and effective processes and improved performance.
- As Commercial Finance lead, perform and oversee ad hoc projects in support of the COO, the four VPs of Operations, the CFO and the VP Commercial Finance.
- This role demands the abilities of a strong and seasoned collaborator, who can work across multiple levels of the organization. You have a proven ability to develop and lead effective relationships within Finance, as well as add value and be a trusted advisor to the business. You enjoy leading teams through change and mentoring and developing people.
About You
- CPA Designation or equivalent (ie. MBA, ACCA)
- 10-12 years’ experience in Financial Planning, Forecasting and Operations
- Strong Financial Modelling (ie. Deciphering a commercial contract into a model)
- Business Partnering experience (all levels, including C-Suite executives and Board of Directors)
- 5 years in Leadership experience
- Industry: Manufacturing or similar
- Company size: Medium to Large
Salary Range
$160,000 - $180,000/year
