A startup CPG company is looking to add a Controller to their team. In this newly created position, the Controller will be responsible for owning the GL and month-end close, COGS, and spearheading system implementation projects. What do you need for this Controller role?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
- 15 years of accounting experience
- MUST have food or beverage experience
- If not food or beverage experience, then CPG with public accounting experience and a CPA
- Advanced Excel
- Prepare and oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Analyze financial data to provide actionable insights to the leadership team.
- Monitor cash flow, manage working capital, and optimize financial resources to support growth.
- Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and banking relationships.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including tax filings.
- Establish, document, and maintain robust internal controls and accounting policies.
- Coordinate external audits and act as the primary point of contact for auditors.
- Implement and maintain accounting and financial reporting software.
- Continuously improve financial processes and systems to increase efficiency and scalability.
