About the Company
Our client is a privately held, leading developer of residential and commercial properties, with a strong presence in the Greater Toronto Area, and Alberta. They are currently seeking a Corporate Controller who will work closely with various teams in the organization and support the CFO.

About the Opportunity
  • Prepare financial statements and working papers for various entities in accordance with ASPE, including consolidated and non-consolidated financial statements, as required internally and by external accountants to meet reporting deadlines
  • Support the improvement of the financial system and processes by expanding scalable financial controls and processes for the organization to ensure accurate, complete and timely reporting
  • Responsible for journal entry and sub-ledger reconciliation review and approval, bank reconciliation review, oversight of vendor management and related payables processing, corporate expense and recovery analysis.
  • Oversee the daily activities of accounting team members and managing the daily accounting operations of the accounting department.
  • Implement scalable financial controls and processes for the organization to ensure accurate, complete and timely reporting
  • Review, reconcile and remit ongoing government and tax filings (HST, EHT, WSIB, WCB and other legislated taxes etc.) as required for various entities and monitor tax payments to government
  • Manage annual filings and related corporation information of officers and directors for various entities
  • Manage MPAC assessments, review yearly filings and maintain summary of MPAC appeals and changes to property tax assessments
  • Assist in the accounting of property acquisitions and dispositions, prepare statement of adjust of required
  • Prepare consolidated projections, budgets and associated reporting packages to management and owners.
  • Manage and monitor the consolidation of treasury, working capital and optimize interest revenues, review interest rates, fees etc. on an ongoing basis.
  • Management preparation of cash call and distributions in liaison with property accountants as required
  • Assist with managing tenant relations, reviewing annual budget, annual reconciliations and tenant communications.
  • Support CFO with other accounting and finance duties or special projects as may be required.

About You
  • CPA designation
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive accounting and reporting experience, with demonstrated experience operating in the real estate industry, preferably property management.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing a team.
  • Strong financial reporting: expertise with ASPE standards
  • Experience managing audit and reporting cycles.
  • Technical excellence with accounting software, including experience evaluating and implementing general ledger and related modules and/or ERP systems.

Salary Range
$125,000 - $145,000/year
