Indirect Tax Staff POST NUMBER: 422772
Key Responsibilities
- Review and approve exemption/resale certificates from customers
- Help maintain exemption/resale certificate management system
- Process sales and use tax filings using Avalara Software for all 50 sates
- Preparing resale certificates for suppliers
- Researching, interpreting, and complying with state and local regulations, and legislative rulings
- Preparing for, and assisting with, sales/use tax audits
- Prepare and upload journal entries
- Reconciliation of sales and use tax general ledger accounts
- Developing and implementing process improvements
- Process Property Tax filings/payments
- Special projects and additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or other four-year degree is preferred, but equivalent accounting experience is acceptable
- Two - five years indirect tax and accounting experience in a multi-unit, multi-state organization with a complex tax structure
- Experience with Avalara (AvaTax & ECM) sales tax & exemption certificate software applications preferred
- Working knowledge with web-based tax research platforms (CCH Tax Research)
- Possess advanced Microsoft Excel skills (v-lookups, pivot tables, macros, etc.)
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization
- Possess strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines within strict time parameters
- Ability to learn the existing ERP system and Accounting workflow structure in due course
