Controller Job Description:
- Responsible for all things accounting, financial reporting, month end, journal entries, reconciliations, fixed assets, budgeting & forecasting.
- Prepare month end and year end close and financial reporting including full profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
- Prepare budgets for projects & corporate entity along with rolling forecasts.
- Develop, monitor, and report business performance metrics for critical decision-making.
- Provide weekly cashflow reporting.
- Responsible to oversee project costing, percentage of completion, AP coding/processing, project budget analysis, balance sheet reconciliation, bank reconciliations, and supporting project managers.
- Work closely with project managers, sales contracts, billing, and certified payrolls.
- Help develop and support short- and long-term operational strategies.
- Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs to maintain financial controls and guidelines.
- Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.
- Lead and manage a team of about 10-12 in the accounting department including AP, AR, project billing, collections, and GL Accountants.
- Possess the ability to multi-task and be a team player, coach and communicate with executive leadership team.
- Seeking strong systems experience along with strong Microsoft Excel Skills.
- Be liaison with outside CPA firm for tax and audit.
Requirements:
- Prior Architectural or Engineering industry
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business, accounting, or related field
- 10 years of accounting experience
- 5 of managerial experience
- Deltek software highly preferred. System implementations experience a strong plus
- CPA a plus
