We are partnering with a large, established organization seeking a Senior Accountant to join its accounting team. This position offers the opportunity to support a sizable portfolio while working within a sophisticated, high-volume accounting environment. The ideal candidate will be a proactive accounting professional who can work independently, manage competing priorities, and contribute immediately.
While industry experience is a plus, the hiring manager is most interested in candidates coming from mid-to-large company environments with strong general ledger accounting, month-end close, and financial analysis experience. Based on the provided role requirements and notes, experience with portfolio accounting, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and large ERP systems is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze general ledger activity to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Prepare and post journal entries related to month-end close activities
- Perform monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations
- Analyze financial results and explain significant variances
- Review financial statements and supporting schedules
- Support a portfolio of business units, projects, or assets within a high-volume environment
- Partner with operational teams to resolve accounting issues and provide financial guidance
- Assist with ad hoc reporting, special projects, and process improvement initiatives
- Participate in regular cross-functional meetings and provide accounting support to stakeholders
- Ensure adherence to accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong general ledger and month-end close experience
- Experience with journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, Pivot Tables, and data analysis
- Experience working within large ERP systems required
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage a high volume of work with minimal supervision
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting large corporate environments
- Experience supporting multiple entities, portfolios, projects, or operational groups
- Background working in fast-paced, deadline-driven accounting environments
