Our client is seeking an experienced Indirect Tax Manager to oversee all aspects of U.S. indirect tax compliance and strategy. This role involves managing the preparation and filing of tax returns, supporting audits, and implementing tax-saving strategies across the business. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with internal teams and external service providers to ensure timely and accurate tax filings while minimizing tax liabilities.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Indirect Tax Compliance: Manage the preparation, review, and timely filing of U.S. indirect tax returns, including sales tax, goods and services tax (GST), and other applicable taxes. Coordinate with external service providers to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Tax Account Management: Reconcile and post journal entries for all tax-related accounts. Review and analyze general ledger activity to verify accuracy and completeness of tax balances.
  • Tax Notices and Audits: Process incoming tax notices and bills, and lead the company’s response to indirect tax inquiries and audits. Gather and analyze relevant data to prepare responses and communicate directly with tax authorities.
  • Additional Filings: Support other indirect tax filings such as property tax, business license registrations and renewals, gross receipts, excise taxes, and more.
  • Tax Strategy: Develop and implement tax planning strategies aimed at optimizing the company’s indirect tax positions, reducing liabilities, and maximizing savings opportunities.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with changes in tax legislation, regulations, and reporting requirements to ensure continued compliance and proactively adapt to new rules.
Requirements:
  • 7 years of tax accounting and/or indirect tax compliance and planning. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline. CPA a plus
  • Proficiency in tax software applications and ERP systems (ie: Avalara and Oracle)

The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
