Payroll Specialist POST NUMBER: 432745
The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll for both exempt and non-exempt employees across multiple states. This role requires a high level of accuracy, compliance with payroll regulations, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll for a large, multi-state employee base, including exempt, non-exempt, and freelance employees
- Ensure accurate payroll calculations, including regular wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions
- Manage payroll taxes, garnishments, and benefit contributions
- Maintain and audit payroll records to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws
- Process new hires, terminations, and employee changes (pay rate updates, benefits adjustments, etc.)
- Assist with year-end payroll tasks, including W-2 preparation and distribution
- Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries from employees in a professional and timely manner
- Reconcile payroll reports and collaborate with accounting for month-end close processes
- Work closely with HR and benefits teams to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance
- Stay updated on payroll regulations and best practices
Qualifications:
- 3 years of payroll experience, preferably in the media, entertainment, or related industries
- Experience processing multi-state payroll for 500 employees
- Proficiency with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paycom, Workday, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, wage and hour laws, and tax compliance
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage confidential information with discretion
- Effective communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
