Accounts Receivable (AR) Collector
Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Accounts Receivable Collector to join our Finance team. This role is responsible for managing a high-volume portfolio of customer accounts while maintaining positive customer relationships and achieving weekly collection goals. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, embraces process improvements, and takes ownership of resolving payment issues efficiently and professionally.
This position requires strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to balance customer service with effective collections practices.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage a high-volume commercial account portfolio.
· Contact customers by phone and email to collect past-due balances.
· Meet or exceed weekly and monthly collection goals.
· Resolve payment delays, disputes, short pays, and unapplied cash.
· Keep accurate ERP collection notes and account records.
· Partner with Sales, Customer Service, and internal teams to clear payment issues.
· Follow credit and collection policies with sound judgment.
· Prioritize work by aging, risk, and collection opportunity.
· Recommend escalations, payment plans, credit holds, or strategies as needed.
· Adapt to changing priorities, systems, and processes.
· Support team goals through collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Required Qualifications
· Minimum of 3 years of business-to-business (B2B) accounts receivable or commercial collections experience.
· Proven success managing a high-volume portfolio in a fast-paced environment.
· Demonstrated track record of consistently meeting or exceeding collection goals.
· Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to build professional relationships while confidently requesting payment.
· Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
· Experience working with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
· Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
· Manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, or membership experience preferred.
· Multiple entities, currencies, or international customer experience preferred.
· Credit policies, aging reports, deductions, and dispute resolution knowledge preferred.
