

Human Resources Generalist POST NUMBER: 444994
Location: Rancho Bernardo, CA (Hybrid – 3–4 days onsite per week)
Rate: $45-$55/hr.

Duration: At least 3 months, possibly longer
A growing government contractor headquartered in San Diego with just under 100 employees, is seeking a temporary HR Generalist to support day-to-day HR operations.
What You’ll Do:
- Act as the primary HR contact for employees on all day-to-day HR matters
- Handle new hire onboarding and orientation processes
- Support benefits administration, including upcoming open enrollment
- Administer leaves of absence (FMLA, disability, etc.) and maintain compliance documentation
- Create HR templates (FMLA letters, onboarding docs, etc.)
- Manage employee lifecycle activities: onboarding, changes, terminations, and offboarding
- Maintain HR documentation, policies, templates, and compliance records (e.g., offer letters, FMLA forms)
- Provide support and guidance on employee relations and performance issues
- Help develop and document internal HR processes, procedures, and checklists
- Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Keep HR platforms updated and accurate
- Partner with Sr. HR Leader to identify HR process improvements and fill knowledge gaps
Who You Are:
- A mid-level HR Generalist with a track record of thriving in small, fast-paced environments
- Comfortable with ambiguity and proactive in building structure where there is none
- Confident working independently but collaborative with leadership
- Familiar with a range of HR systems
- Experience in benefits administration and compliance documentation is required
- Knowledgeable about California labor laws and general HR best practices
- Bonus if you’ve worked in government contracting
