Vaco is excited to present an excellent opportunity for a Senior Tax Accountant in Jacksonville, Florida! This direct hire role offers a robust relocation package for candidates outside of Jacksonville or the surrounding area.

As a vital member of the finance team, the Senior Tax Accountant will combine expertise in tax preparation with strategic tax planning and risk assessment, making a significant impact on company operations in a dynamic, small-office environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tax Preparation:

  • Prepare Federal and State income tax returns, including multi-state and SALT franchise tax filings.
  • Accurately calculate and file quarterly tax estimates.

  • Strategic Tax Planning:

  • Collaborate on tax planning initiatives by preparing projections, estimates, and apportionment schedules to inform strategic decisions.

  • Research & Compliance:

  • Conduct detailed tax research to address complex issues and maintain compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Assist with federal and state tax audits and respond to tax notices.

  • Collaboration & Risk Assessment:

  • Engage with internal teams to collect required information and communicate potential tax risks effectively.

  • Automation & Innovation:

  • Maintain and improve the automated tax calendar, ensuring all filings are accurate and submitted on time.

    Qualifications:

  • Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required; MS in Taxation or CPA certification highly desirable.

  • Experience:

  • Required:
  • 3-5 years of public SALT experience with promotion to Senior Associate completed, OR
  • 10 years of corporate internal SALT experience.
  • Ideal:
  • Big 4 Senior Associate with regional SALT experience.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with tax software (CCH Axcess and NetSuite G/L preferred).

  • Research & Communication Skills:

  • Ability to conduct thorough tax research using online and print resources.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for explaining complex tax concepts.

  • Team-Oriented:

  • A proactive mindset with a willingness to assist in non-tax areas and gain broad exposure across the company.
