Job Title: Controller
Location: Jersey City, NJ
Salary: $140,000-180,000

Our client is a dynamic real estate development firm located in Jersey City, NJ, seeking a talented Controller to join our team. Our company is committed to delivering high-quality projects and maintaining strong relationships with our investors.

Position Overview:
The Controller will be responsible for managing the financial operations of the firm, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with industry standards. This position requires a hands-on approach and a deep understanding of the real estate industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all aspects of Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and ensure accuracy of all financial transactions.
  • Prepare and post journal entries in QuickBooks.
  • Assist with month-end close processes in collaboration with an outside accounting firm.
  • Prepare financial statements and reports to support business decisions.
  • Communicate and work with investors, providing financial insights and updates.
  • Implement the waterfall method for revenue distribution among investors and project stakeholders
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in the real estate industry is a must.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks is essential.
  • Strong understanding of AP/AR processes and bank reconciliations.
  • Experience preparing journal entries and financial statements.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in interacting with investors.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Work Environment:
  • This is an on-site position, requiring a commitment of five days a week in our Jersey City office.
