Senior Manager, Internal Controls and Financial Processes (PERMANENT POSITION)
Location: Montreal (Hybrid)
Reports To: Senior Director, Financial Reporting


Job Summary
The Senior Manager, Internal Controls and Financial Processes is responsible for overseeing the organization’s internal control framework and financial process compliance, particularly with working standard NI 52-109. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the integrity of financial reporting and works closely with stakeholders across the organization to assess, enhance, and implement effective internal controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the assessment and testing of internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR), including scoping, documentation, and evaluation of deficiencies.
  • Identify and implement improvements to financial operations and the financial close process, leveraging technology and optimizing resource allocation.
  • Plan and coordinate the annual review and update of internal control narratives and risk control matrices.
  • Support business process owners in strengthening internal documentation and internal controls.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive testing strategy and framework for internal controls.
  • Coordinate and conduct control testing, evaluating design and operational effectiveness, and providing actionable recommendations.
  • Support ITGC (Information Technology General Controls) audits and monitor remediation efforts.
  • Review and assess SOC (Service Organization Control) reports.
  • Oversee audits related to various government programs.
  • Monitor the implementation of internal control action plans through structured follow-up procedures.
  • Present internal control findings and recommendations to the Senior Director.
  • Supervise the internal control testing team and collaborate with external auditors.
  • Lead the implementation and training of NI 52-109 controls across affiliated companies.

Must-Have Qualifications
  • Professional designation: CPA or CIA
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in internal or external audits of publicly traded companies
  • Strong knowledge of control-related regulations and frameworks (e.g., COSO 2013, NI 52-109, COBIT, and SOC reports)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Fluency in both French and English

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with ITGC audits
  • Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive continuous improvement initiatives
