Job Summary
The Senior Manager, Internal Controls and Financial Processes is responsible for overseeing the organization’s internal control framework and financial process compliance, particularly with working standard NI 52-109. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the integrity of financial reporting and works closely with stakeholders across the organization to assess, enhance, and implement effective internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the assessment and testing of internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR), including scoping, documentation, and evaluation of deficiencies.
- Identify and implement improvements to financial operations and the financial close process, leveraging technology and optimizing resource allocation.
- Plan and coordinate the annual review and update of internal control narratives and risk control matrices.
- Support business process owners in strengthening internal documentation and internal controls.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive testing strategy and framework for internal controls.
- Coordinate and conduct control testing, evaluating design and operational effectiveness, and providing actionable recommendations.
- Support ITGC (Information Technology General Controls) audits and monitor remediation efforts.
- Review and assess SOC (Service Organization Control) reports.
- Oversee audits related to various government programs.
- Monitor the implementation of internal control action plans through structured follow-up procedures.
- Present internal control findings and recommendations to the Senior Director.
- Supervise the internal control testing team and collaborate with external auditors.
- Lead the implementation and training of NI 52-109 controls across affiliated companies.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Professional designation: CPA or CIA
- Minimum 6 years of experience in internal or external audits of publicly traded companies
- Strong knowledge of control-related regulations and frameworks (e.g., COSO 2013, NI 52-109, COBIT, and SOC reports)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written)
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Fluency in both French and English
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ITGC audits
- Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive continuous improvement initiatives
