Vaco is partnering with an ever-growing public accounting firm in Scottsdale to hire a Senior Tax Preparer. In this role, you will prepare complex individual and business tax returns and provide clients with effective tax planning strategies. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical tax knowledge, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced public accounting environment.
Position Details:
- Compensation: $90,000 – $110,000 annually
- Bonus: Annual bonus potential
- Schedule: Flexible hybrid schedule with light work hour expectations, even during busy season
- Employment Type: Direct hire

- Prepare and review complex individual, corporate, partnership, fiduciary, and other tax returns.
- Conduct thorough tax research to support positions taken on tax returns and to advise clients effectively.
- Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend strategies to clients to minimize tax liability.
- Assist with tax planning for high-net-worth individuals and closely held businesses.
- Respond to IRS and state agency notices; prepare correspondence and represent clients as needed.
- Collaborate with partners and managers to deliver high-quality client service.
- Supervise and mentor junior tax staff and provide guidance on technical and procedural issues.
- Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Ensure compliance with firm policies and professional standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA not required. EA preferred but not required,
- Minimum 5-10 years of recent tax preparation experience in public accounting.
- Strong understanding of federal and state tax codes, regulations, and filing requirements.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., Lacerte, ProSystem fx, UltraTax) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines efficiently.
