A retailer in Hollywood is looking for a Senior Accountant to join their team. In this role, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for reconciliations, accruals, and must be able to be hands on A-Z with month-end close. What do you need for this Senior Accountant role?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- 8 years of accounting experience
- Advanced Excel
- Must have inventory accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP
- Lead the monthly and annual close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and preparation of financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
- Perform comprehensive balance sheet reconciliations, promptly investigating and resolving discrepancies.
- Prepare monthly budget-to-actual variance reports and deliver insights to senior management.
- Ensure accuracy in inventory costing, valuation, and reporting across finished goods, raw materials, and work-in-progress.
- Maintain and enhance standard cost models within ERP systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate inventory activity and ensure proper accounting for COGS, returns, and shrinkage.
- Manage the excess and obsolete inventory process, including related reserve calculations.
- Serve as a liaison with banking partners for treasury activities and oversee daily cash management.
- Manage payroll processing and related compliance requirements.
- Oversee sales and use tax compliance across states and channels, including preparation and filing of returns or coordination with external tax consultants.
- Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
- Participate in system upgrades, accounting software integrations, and process automation initiatives.
- Assist in evaluating new tools and technology enhancements to support business growth and scalability.
- Provide monthly financial reporting to department leaders.
- Provide support in preparing for external audits and tax filings.
- Conduct ad hoc financial analyses and assist with audit requests as needed.
- Strengthen and refine accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls, with a focus on inventory and cost accounting.
- Partner with teams across retail, wholesale, and e-commerce channels to provide financial insights and operational support.
