Job Title: Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Location: REMOTE (travel to Chicago required 2-3 times/quarter)
Duration: 9 months to start, possibility of extension
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Compensation: $105–$115 per hour
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join a $2B long/short hedge fund on a contract basis. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and partnering with senior leadership on strategic decision-making.
The ideal candidate will bring hedge fund industry experience, a proven track record in senior financial leadership, and the ability to step into a fast-paced environment with minimal onboarding.
Key Responsibilities

Provide executive oversight of all financial functions, including accounting, reporting, treasury, and compliance.

Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in accordance with industry standards.

Partner with fund leadership on strategic planning, forecasting, and capital management.

Maintain relationships with auditors, administrators, prime brokers, and regulators.

Oversee risk management and internal controls to safeguard firm assets and ensure compliance.

Manage and mentor the finance team, ensuring operational excellence across functions.

Support investor reporting, fundraising, and due diligence processes as required.
Qualifications

15 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (CFO, Deputy CFO, or equivalent) at a hedge fund.

Strong knowledge of hedge fund operations, accounting, and compliance requirements.

Proven ability to manage complex financial structures and large portfolios.

Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

CPA, CFA, or MBA preferred but not required.
