

Accounting Specialist POST NUMBER: 455253
Location: Sandy Springs - Hybrid
Compensation: $55-$60K range depending on experience
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting (Payroll GL) Specialist to join one of the nation’s largest and fastest-growing automotive retail organizations. This role focuses on payroll general ledger postings, reconciliations, and compliance, supporting over 140 dealerships nationwide. The ideal candidate is motivated, eager to learn, and possesses a strong understanding of accounting principles, particularly debits and credits. Responsibilities:
- Process and post weekly payroll general ledger entries across multiple dealerships and corporate platforms
- Post payroll-related items including HSA, FSA, 401(k), taxes, and garnishment expenses
- Complete weekly payroll schedules, balance sheet reconciliations, and cash reconciliations
- Validate commissions and conduct wage comparison reconciliations
- Perform weekly audits and compliance checks on payroll GL postings
- Prepare and post month-end accruals and reconciliations
- Reconcile and post all ACH and wire transfers related to payroll
- Support controllers and finance leadership with GL issues, adjustments, and reporting
- Collaborate with Corporate Finance on monthly reporting and compliance standards
- Contribute to process improvements and continuous enhancement of payroll accounting practices
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of accounting experience required (internship experience acceptable with strong fundamentals)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of general ledger rules, payroll accounting, and debits/credits
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and strong attention to detail
- Ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues proactively
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Motivated, eager to learn, and open to coaching in a fast-growing organization
Nice to Have:
- Dealership or automotive industry accounting experience
- Experience working with large ERP or reporting systems (OneStream, Workiva, Oracle, SAP, etc.)
- CPA track or additional accounting coursework
