Our client, a private family office supporting two tech entrepreneurs, is seeking a Controller to manage and oversee all aspects of their personal and business financial operations. This is a unique opportunity to work directly with a dynamic, fast-paced family involved in startups, venture capital, and angel investing.
Location:
The role is mostly remote; however, candidates should be based in either the San Francisco Bay Area or Los Angeles and be available for in-person meetings every other week.
Job Description:
In this role, you will run all financial operations and reporting for the family, oversee portfolio analytics / reporting, and work closely with their operating businesses.
Responsibilities:
- Manage personal financial operations including budgeting, cash management, reporting, and coordination with external advisors (tax, legal, wealth management).
- Oversee financial operations for a broad investment portfolio including angel investments, venture funds, and alternative assets.
- Support accounting and financial operations for related entities including a VC fund and a family-owned business.
- Coordinate tax filings and legal documentation across multiple entities (LLCs, trusts, etc.).
- Lead special projects such as asset purchases, payroll for household staff, and financial system implementations.
Requirements:
- 8 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, ideally with exposure to family office environments or high-net-worth individuals.
- Strong understanding of personal and entity-level tax coordination.
- Exceptional discretion, integrity, and professionalism in handling sensitive financial information.
- Proven ability to manage external vendors and projects independently.
- Based in the Bay Area or Los Angeles, with flexibility for occasional in-person meetings and off-hours communication.
