Compensation: $220,000 – $270,000 base bonus, RSUs
Position Overview
A leading technology organization is seeking an experienced Director of Government Accounting to lead compliance, audit readiness, and government cost accounting functions. This role will oversee a high-performing team and serve as a key partner to senior leadership, ensuring financial compliance across all government contracts while helping guide the transition to a modern ERP system (SAP S/4HANA).
Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development – Manage and mentor a government accounting team (including managers), ensuring accurate and timely execution of close processes and compliance deliverables.

Regulatory Compliance – Ensure adherence to CAS, FAR, and GAAP requirements; establish and maintain accounting policies that meet regulatory standards.

Audit & Government Liaison – Serve as the primary contact for government agencies and auditors (e.g., DCAA, DCMA); lead audit responses and implement corrective actions as needed.

Regulatory Submissions – Oversee preparation and submission of Forward Pricing Rate Proposals, Incurred Cost Submissions, Disclosure Statements, and other required filings.

Strategic Guidance – Advise leadership on government accounting matters, cost structures, and compliance strategies; support informed decision-making across the business.

Performance & Process Improvement – Develop and track key performance metrics; drive efficiencies and continuous improvement within the accounting function.

ERP Transition Support – Act as a subject matter expert during the migration from Oracle to SAP S/4HANA, ensuring compliance processes are embedded in new systems.
Qualifications

15 years of progressive experience in government accounting, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA required.

Expertise in CAS, FAR, and GAAP with proven experience negotiating with government agencies.

Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills.

Skilled in managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint; ERP experience required (SAP preferred).

U.S. Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications

Prior Big 4 or public accounting experience.

Direct experience with SAP S/4HANA implementation.
