Role: Fund Controller
Salary: $150,000 - $180,000/annually bonus
Location: New York City, NY – Hybrid (3 days/week on-site)
Role Overview: A leading investment firm focused on real estate credit is seeking a Fund Controller to join its team. The group manages a diverse set of funds and separate accounts, and operates in a collaborative, cross-functional environment. This position will take ownership of fund-level financial operations, working closely with investment professionals, legal, tax, and operations teams. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in fund accounting, strong technical knowledge, and a proactive approach to managing third-party administrators and internal processes. CPA and Big 4 accounting background highly preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee financial reporting, including review of fund statements, capital accounts, and management fee/carried interest calculations.
- Support deal activity including acquisitions, financings, and dispositions across loan portfolios.
- Manage treasury functions such as cash flow monitoring, capital calls, distributions, and vendor payments.
- Coordinate with operations on loan servicing reconciliations and compliance tracking.
- Monitor credit facilities, including drawdowns, payments, and covenant compliance.
- Analyze fund performance metrics including IRRs, investment multiples, and time-weighted returns.
- Ensure fund documentation aligns with financial allocations and terms.
- Respond to investor and internal requests, both recurring and ad hoc.
- Maintain oversight of fund structures including master-feeder and blocker entities.
Requirements:
- 8–12 years of experience in fund accounting or finance, ideally with exposure to real estate or credit strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA highly preferred.
- Experience with both commingled funds and separate accounts.
- Background in public accounting (Big 4) and private fund environments.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to manage relationships with administrators and internal teams.
- Detail-oriented with a mindset for process improvement and risk management.
