Controller, CPA - Manufacturing/ Distribution

Vaco is excited to partner with one of our clients in the metro-Atlanta area who is looking to add a new Controller to their team. This newly revamped role is due to the growth they are experiencing. The Controller should have 3 to 5 years of experience in a public accounting setting in either Audit or Assurance and have reached the level of Manager (would consider Senior Associate). A CPA is strongly preferred. The Controller will report to the CFO and will have an exciting growth path to the C-level.

This role could be perfect for someone coming straight from Public Accounting, but they are open to a blend of public and industry experience.

Note: This role is 100% on site in their beautiful new office space. All Covid requirements are closely followed, and the building is equipped with the latest standards for airflow and distancing.


Job Description:

  • Timely completion of financial statements and preparation of monthly financial reporting packages for Management, Banks, and Board of Directors
  • Create and maintain accounting policies and procedures assuring accuracy of monthly financial results in accordance with GAAP, including proper classification of recorded entries and accruals consistent with company accounting practices
  • Lead accounting, operations, and HR colleagues to assure accuracy of reported results and company records
  • Supports and monitors business needs in matters of employee policies including oversight of payroll record keeping and accounting recognition
  • Supports and monitors business needs in matters of AR & AP including oversight of company policy, record keeping, and accounting recognition
  • Create and maintain ERP reports into agreed upon format for purposes of business analysis and explanation of financial performance
  • Publish financials and PowerPoint presentation for inclusion in Board Deck
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining accurate inventory accounting policies and practices assuring accuracy of inventory records for both unit counts and extended inventory value
  • Responsible for assessing and maintaining a monthly inventory reserve
  • Assure inventory records enable the organization to capture and analyze product and customer profitability accurately
  • Maintain integrity between the operations records and the accounting inventory records through regular reconciliation
  • Lead the development and creation of a new job cost reporting system, aligning operational and financial measurement objectives
  • Coordinate across the organization to assure accuracy of intercompany records of the consolidating entities
  • Completion of the weekly forecast model with working knowledge and explanations of historical and forecast results
  • Weekly AP/AR analysis and monitoring of activities
  • Identify and recommend actions plans for improving financial performance
  • Establishes policies and procedures to safeguard company assets
  • Performs monitoring controls as assigned to assure controls are functioning as designed and recommend changes to achieve effective internal controls
  • Work with the CFO to develop the annual operating plan for the company
  • Prepares schedules and analysis necessary to support financial performance expectations and investment decisions of the company as requested
  • Other Projects and Duties as assigned

Education/ Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Masters or MBA Preferred
  • 3 years of Public Accounting experience required, supporting Manufactuing or Distribution clients
  • CPA or CPA Tracking
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and excellent communication skills are all essential to this position

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
