Job Description

Vaco is currently working with a Seattle-based independent school who is looking for a Controller/HR Manger to join their team.

The Controller/HR Manager is an integral member of the team and responsible for oversight of the day-to-day accounting and HR functions. This role will oversee accounting operations, payroll and benefits administration and compliance management.

A snapshot of some of the exciting things you will do:

• Manage, mentor and train accounting and HR staff
• Manage audit compliance including financial statement audit and filing of IRS form 990
• Oversight of 5500 preparation and 403b plan compliance
• Maintenance of chart of accounts and accounting policy manual
• Monitoring changing accounting and HR rules and how they may affect EPS
• Create and maintain internal controls
• Main contact with bank, payroll provider and audit firm
• Review all reconciliations
• Management of the month-end close process and payroll
• Resolution of accounting discrepancies and irregularities
• Analysis of monthly financial results
• Prepare internal financial statements for budget owners
• Oversee all leave requests and FMLA/PFML compliance

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or related field
• The ideal candidate will have approximately 7+ years of relevant experience
• Experience working with NetSuite, Concur and Paycom is preferred
• Nonprofit experience is a plus
• Advanced knowledge with excel and advanced computer proficiency
• Experience with endowment accounting preferred

Salary: $90-$130K
