Corporate Controller-

Responsibilities
  • Lead an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close process, including consolidation and inter-company eliminations
  • Serve as the top subject matter expert on GAAP reporting, general ledger structure and accounting rules
  • Ensure a solid internal control infrastructure and documentation
  • Coordinate annual and statutory audits with few or no adjustments and no material control deficiencies
  • Oversee the cash operations function to ensure the accurate and timely processing of customer invoices, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and banking transactions
  • Prepare sales and property tax returns and support outside income tax return preparation
  • Direct financial operations at international entities and coordinate expansion to new geographic regions
  • Collaborate and partner with FP&A to support budget and forecasting activities, as well as overall department goals and objectives
  • Support the CFO with special projects and reporting requests
  • Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the efficiency and workflow of the department with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Provide leadership, supervise, train and develop new and existing staff, with career development and effective succession planning as key company priorities
  • Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development

Job Requirements:
  • Four-year university degree in business, accounting, finance or similar required
  • CPA licensed in the State of Michigan
  • MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of accounting experience
  • 4+ years' experience in a Corporate Controller or similar role
  • 3+ years in a "Big 4" or similar public accounting or consulting environment
  • Proven ability to recruit, train and develop personnel to enable the organization to keep up with the rapidly changing environment
  • Thorough understanding of accounting procedures, US GAAP, IFRS and recent accounting literature and pronouncements
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting systems, with implementation experience strongly preferred
  • Experience managing and expanding International operations, such as launching new foreign entities and joint ventures
  • Multi-state sales tax experience preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills, along with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines; formal project management training a plus
  • Team player with the ability to work independently and keep cool under pressure.
