Job Description

FUND CONTROLLER

A local company is looking for an experienced and qualified Fund Controller to join their Corporate Accounting Team. The Fund Controller will hold key responsibilities in preparing quarterly valuations, general accounting, month end close, general ledger account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, accounts payable, and capital call cash management. The Fund Controller will report directly to the CFO, where they will be expected to take part in a lead role, and significantly contribute to the department's success in achieving the company's financial goals.


Responsibilities of the Fund Controller:

  • Assist with quarterly valuation reporting
  • Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
  • Compliance - Sales Tax & Corporate Tax reporting
  • Preparation of financial statements
  • Working with general ledger system
  • Fund expense reporting and analysis
  • Journal entries & reconciliations (month end)
  • Financial compliance and preparation
  • Management of the external audit and tax preparation
  • Capital Call preparation and cash management, as well as distribution statements
  • Identify business needs & enhance day-to-day operations while working with other departments for financial reporting
  • Understand company's financial operations & reporting requirements in order to ensure corporate financial goals are met and all financial deadlines are met on a monthly basis.

Qualifications of the Fund Controller:

  • Bachelors in Accounting, Finance or related field of study.
  • 7+ years of accounting experience in leadership
  • CPA certification required
  • Previous experience working in Fund Accounting
  • Strong knowledge of accounting procedures and US (GAAP) Guidelines
  • ERP system experience
  • Strong work ethic
  • Consolidations experience
  • Knowledge and experience with general ledger transactions, financial statements and month end close
  • Excellent computer skills & proficient in Microsoft Office (heavy excel)
