Job Description

Vaco-Boston, LLC is working with a full-service real estate investment firm and operating company focused on the Boston market.

The Junior Corporate Accountant role is ideal for someone starting their accounting career, excited to gain experience, and have a direct impact on a growing company. This highly visible role is responsible for performing various accounting and financial functions for the company and its related entities. Curiosity and enthusiasm are prerequisites for a candidate eager to work with a small group to constantly improve the company and themselves.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with team responsible for all Management Company's weekly, monthly and quarterly financial reporting
  • Creating monthly financial statements and standard analytical reports
  • Completing monthly bank reconciliations and adjusting journal entries
  • Processing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, and payroll activities
  • Tracking and recording expenses to ensure vendors are paid
  • Engaging with all departments to obtain information necessary to complete responsibilities
  • Preparing the annual budgets and tracking results throughout the year
  • Assisting with the lending portfolio reporting and servicing
  • Supporting the treasury and family office function and the management of all non-real estate assets and investments
  • Developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures
  • Completing ad hoc requests for various departments
  • Be involved in special projects and initiatives to improve and scale the company

Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, debits, and credits
  • Payroll experience is a plus
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work well with internal and external parties
  • Strong organizational skills, with an attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Willing to learn new systems and eager to grow with the company
  • Independent problem solving and teamwork
  • Previous internship experience a plus
  • Knowledge of Excel required
  • QuickBooks, Yardi experience a plus
