Overview

This position reports to Database Administration Manager and, is responsible for and oversees aspects of database system design, implementation, troubleshooting and administration. Manages and leads team to provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for all enterprise database systems and services to achieve service level agreements. Develops, installs, maintains and monitors enterprise databases in a high performance/high availability environment. Supports enterprise projects.

Database expertise to include support for application development; batch processing, reporting, security, warehouse and technical services. Ability to work in PostgreSQL, Enterprise DB (EDB) Advanced Server and Oracle RAC environments for Enterprise POS applications and Enterprise Warehouse supporting the entire corporation - CSS and inclusive of Field Operations, Online, and Contact Center channels.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of Tier 2 and Tier 3 database support team responsible for all enterprise database services
  • Propose new initiatives, develop plans, and lead projects to support business needs or gain efficiencies
  • Lead efforts to develop and improve procedures for automated monitoring and proactive intervention, reducing any need for downtime
  • Provide general database design, implementation, and administration to assure highest reliability and performance.
  • Advanced knowledge of database analysis, manipulation, mapping cleansing; data structures; exporting data; data processes/flow; database performance tuning/optimizing; scripting; creating databases and using data analysis tools
  • Develop database scripts, code, and packages to support enterprise application development within best practices and standards
  • Oversee database architecture, service reliability, and perform root cause analysis of software/process failure
  • Maintain database backup/recovery procedures and disaster recovery database environment
  • Develop and support procedures for database security
  • Conduct database capacity planning, record archival, and performance tuning regularly
  • Implement and support database software upgrade and patch management procedures
  • Document database specifications, licensing, configuration, and infrastructure
  • Develop processes, procedures and guidelines for troubleshooting database events and performing sustaining tasks - support application development
  • Coach, mentor, and develop technical team members
  • Understand, adhere to and enforce all corporate policies including, but not limited to, Code of Ethics and Information Security Policies.

Qualifications

Equivalent Education Level Required: Minimum 4 year university BS/BA degree; Computer Science or Business major preferred. Technical certifications desired.

Experience Required: Minimum of 4 years of experience working in an enterprise database capacity (Preferred PostgreSQL), SQLServer or Oracle is a plus.

Knowledge Required: Competencies demonstrated within an enterprise database environment.

Enterprise DB/PostgreSQL databases 9.x/10.x UNIX/Linux-based environment and clusters system architecture including connection poolers (pgPool and pgBouncer) , Enterprise DB Replication, BART, EDB Migration Tool Kit, pg_dump, PEM, pgAdmin, pdbadger, pgdash, sharding, regular maintenance on databases (e.g., Vacuum, Reindexing, Archiving), PL/SQL development and tuning required; exposure to OLTP, Warehouse design.
