Job Description

The Senior Accountant performs a variety of advanced and specialized accounting activities in accordance with accounting principles and standards to control the organization's financial resources and ensures compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, and reporting requirements. Provides work leadership and direction to other accountants.


  • Collects and analyzes complex financial information.
  • Prepares accurate, transparent and timely financial reports, accounting statements and recommendations to support leadership in the decision-making process. Reports may include profit and loss statements, balance sheets, depreciation statements, cash flow, debtor and creditor lists, repayment schedules, regulatory reports and filings.
  • Develops and/or implements one or more accounting systems. Prepares journal entries; maintains and reconciles more complex general ledger accounts.
  • Reviews journal entries to ensure that the general ledger is accurate and complete.
  • May provide technical accounting advice within area of expertise to functional or operational managers to help them develop revenue and expense budgets, understand financial reports, and manage their financial responsibilities.
  • Ensures accuracy and compliance with all accounting regulations.
  • May assist with internal and external financial audits.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification in accounting, finance or business field. MBA or MBA training a plus.
  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 5+ years') or equivalent combination of education, training, & experience.
  • CPA or CPA in training a plus

  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills
  • Advanced level of skill in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for analysis and presentation of data (pivot tables, v-lookup) Analysis, reporting and communication skills
  • Ability to work with ambiguity and complexity
  • Demonstrates executive presence and good presentation skills
  • Ability to influence at all levels of the organization


  • Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment.
  • Occasional drives to site locations with occasional travel both domestic and international.
  • Long, varied hours may be required.
  • Frequently stationary for 6-8 hours per day.
  • Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.
  • Frequent mobility required.
  • Occasional crouching, stooping, bending and twisting of upper body and neck.
  • Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs.
  • Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Frequently interacts with others to obtain or relate information to diverse groups.
  • Works independently with little guidance or reliance on oral or written instructions and plans work schedules to meet goals. Requires multiple periods of intense concentration.
  • Performs a wide range of variable tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions with little predictability as to the occurrence. Ability to perform under stress. Ability to multi-task.
