About the Role
We are currently seeking a Senior Internal Auditor with a strong background in Operational Auditing to join a leading organization in the mining and metals sector. This is a highly impactful role reporting to the Global Assurance Manager, responsible for leading and executing end-to-end audit engagements with a strong focus on improving business processes and internal controls.
This opportunity offers a mix of head office engagement and on-site fieldwork at remote mining locations (travel required ~6–8 times/year, 3-hour flights).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute operational audit engagements from planning to reporting
- Participate in enterprise risk assessments and assist in developing a risk-based audit plan
- Assess design and operating effectiveness of internal controls
- Document processes through walkthroughs, flowcharts, and narratives
- Identify gaps in controls and recommend actionable improvements
- Conduct follow-ups on past audit recommendations
- Prepare audit reports and present findings to process owners
- Conduct SOx compliance testing as needed
- Contribute to data analytics initiatives to enhance audit scope and efficiency
- Support special investigations or projects as assigned
- Foster relationships with stakeholders across the organization
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- CIA designation is strongly preferred (CPA is acceptable, but focus is on Operational Audit expertise)
- Minimum 10 years of relevant operational audit experience
- Experience in mining, industrial, or field-based operations is an asset
- Strong understanding of IIA Standards and audit methodologies
- Fully bilingual (French/English)
- High integrity, professionalism, and strong interpersonal skills
- Comfortable with moderate travel (approx. 6–8 trips/year to northern operations)
