I’m supporting a small, award-winning design-focused firm in New York City that is hiring a Bookkeeper as their longtime finance professional prepares to retire after 15 years. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys small-office environments, autonomy, and working closely with a tight-knit team.
About the Role
This full-time Bookkeeper will oversee all day-to-day financial operations, manage reporting, support both the design and procurement sides of the business, and partner with leadership on payroll and tax-related processes. The role is hybrid with 1–2 days onsite in their new West Village office starting January 2026.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee bookkeeping for a small design-oriented firm
• Verify daily balances, deposits, withdrawals
• Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
• Handle bi-weekly payroll, partner draws, 401k payments
• Generate/process business owner tax payments, year-end reports, and NY/FL sales tax
• Liaise with external CPA
• Reconcile bank/credit card statements in QuickBooks
• Support design procurement billing, collections, and payment requests
• Review accuracy of procurement data in QuickBooks
What They’re Looking For
• Strong QuickBooks expertise (required)
• Bookkeeping experience within small businesses (design, architecture, interiors, engineering a plus)
• Understanding of tax law as it applies to small businesses
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, able to work independently
• Comfortable in a 6-person office environment
Compensation & Schedule
• Salary: $80–85K
• Hybrid: 1–2 days onsite weekly
• PTO, sick days, health stipend, 401k after trial period
