Accounting Manager POST NUMBER: 464115
Our client in the insurance sector is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager for a 4-month contract to support a busy year-end period. This role will oversee the work of one direct report, ensure timely and accurate monthly close activities, and contribute to statutory and management reporting deliverables.
About the Opportunity
Month-End & Close Process:
- Lead and review month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Monitor the close calendar to ensure deadlines are met and reporting packages are completed accurately.
- Review work prepared by one direct report and provide coaching, guidance, and quality control.
- Prepare and review financial statements, supporting schedules, and internal reporting packages.
- Support quarterly and annual reporting requirements, including notes, disclosures, and management commentary.
- Assist with preparing analyses for senior leadership, auditors, and internal stakeholders.
- Play a key role in the year-end process by coordinating deliverables, reviewing schedules, and supporting audit requests.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of year-end working papers and documentation.
- Collaborate with actuary, tax, and finance teams to ensure consistent and timely year-end reporting.
About You
- 5 years of progressive accounting and reporting experience, ideally within insurance.
- Strong understanding of the month-end close process and financial reporting cycles.
- Prior experience reviewing the work of junior team members or managing small teams.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage tight timelines, and thrive in a busy year-end environment.
