Part-Time Bookkeeper / Accountant (Contract) – Construction Industry
Location: Hybrid (1–2 days per week in office)
Schedule: 16–20 hours per week to start; flexible schedule
Engagement: Contract (with strong potential to grow into full-time)
Compensation- $25-35/hr. based on experience.
Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Part-Time Bookkeeper / Accountant to support the CPA of a fast-growing construction company. This contract role will play a key part in building and maintaining scalable accounting processes as the company continues to expand. The ideal candidate is hands-on, tech-savvy, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment with evolving responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities

Set up and maintain new clients within QuickBooks Online

Create and implement new charts of accounts

Enter and manage new vendors and subcontractors

Set up and automate vendor payments, including EFT/ACH

Issue and track vendor payments

Support day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting functions

Perform bank reconciliations

Assist with preparing and issuing financial statements

Develop, track, and monitor KPIs and financial metrics

Work closely with the CPA to improve and streamline accounting processes

Over time, expand responsibilities to include:

Office management support

Basic HR and onboarding coordination

Travel planning and scheduling support for leadership

Qualifications
-
3–5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably within construction or a project-based environment

Strong QuickBooks Online experience required

Solid understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, and financial reporting

Experience setting up accounting systems and processes from the ground up

Comfortable automating workflows and leveraging technology

Highly organized with strong attention to detail

Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
