A Westside real estate company is looking for a Senior Property Accountant to join their team. In this newly created role, the Senior Property Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the accounting for a portfolio of properties. What do you need for this Senior Property Accountant role?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
- 3-7 years property or real estate experience
- Experience with Yardi or related software
- Advanced Excel
- CPA would be great but not a requirement
- Own the month-end and year-end close process for assigned properties, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for properties and related entities
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances between budget, forecast, and actuals
- Manage CAM reconciliations, tenant billings, and recoveries in accordance with lease agreements
- Review rent rolls, tenant ledgers, and ensure accurate revenue recognition
- Oversee fixed assets, depreciation, and capital expenditure tracking
- Support annual budgets, forecasts, and reforecasts in collaboration with property and asset management teams
- Coordinate with external auditors and support audit and tax-related requests
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
