Salary: $120,000–$150,000 Bonus
We are seeking a high?energy, personable Tax Manager with strong REIT industry experience to join a leading real estate organization. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional who thrives in a fast?paced environment and enjoys owning complex tax matters across corporate, partnership, and REIT structures.
As the Tax Manager, you will lead key tax planning, compliance, and risk management initiatives while partnering closely with internal teams and external advisors. You’ll oversee federal, state, and local tax filings, support REIT qualification, manage tax matters, and provide tax expertise on acquisitions, dispositions, and audits.
This role is ideal for someone who is technically strong, detail?oriented, and confident communicating across all levels of the business.
- Manage preparation and timely filing of federal, state, and local corporate, partnership, REIT, and franchise tax returns.
- Coordinate with outside tax advisors and ensure accuracy of all supporting documentation.
- Lead ongoing REIT testing and compliance to maintain REIT qualification.
- Support tax aspects of acquisitions and dispositions, including due diligence.
- Handle indirect tax filings (B&O, gross receipts, business licenses).
- Manage tax responsibilities: quarterly tax provision, intercompany transactions, income tracking, and tax credit utilization.
- Assist with IRS and state tax audits and respond to tax notices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master’s degree preferred.
- 5–7 years of tax experience with strong corporate, partnership, and REIT exposure.
- CPA preferred (not required).
- Big 4 experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of partnership taxation, corporate tax, California tax matters, and U.S. GAAP tax reporting.
- REIT qualification and REIT/TRS transfer pricing experience required.
- Must be personable, highly organized, and comfortable managing multiple deadlines.
- Hybrid: 4 days in office (Mon–Thurs) Friday WFH; flexible hours – Newport Beach
