Overview
Our client, a private commercial real estate investment firm, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee financial operations across a diverse portfolio of properties. This hands-on role works closely with senior leadership and serves as a key point of contact for property accounting matters.
Responsibilities
• Manage the full accounting cycle for multiple properties and related entities, including month-end close, journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP and produce Budget vs. Actual reports with variance analysis
• Oversee treasury activities, monitor cash balances, and execute payments
• Maintain and administer lease data within the accounting system, including new leases and amendments
• Calculate and bill Percentage Rent and ensure accurate posting of tenant charges and adjustments
• Perform year-end reconciliations and ensure proper allocation of recoverable expenses
• Manage the full Accounts Payable process and ensure timely vendor payments
• Track project-related allowances, process draw requests, and maintain tax and payment schedules
• Serve as a financial point of contact for tenants, process receipts, and manage Accounts Receivable aging
• Handle manual payments and off-cycle processing as needed
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, CPA preferred
• 5 years of progressive commercial property accounting experience with full-cycle responsibility for multiple properties
• Advanced proficiency in property accounting software such as Yardi Voyager
• Strong understanding of retail lease structures, Percentage Rent, and common lease provisions
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel for analysis and reconciliations
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and identify trends
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a collaborative office environment
