Role: Director, SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting
Salary: $200,000 - $250,000/annually
Location: Remote (must be East Coast) Monthly International Travel

This role will shape policy, oversee global compliance, and provide expert judgment on complex accounting matters. Must have CPA and Big 4 public accounting advisory background, plus technical accounting/SEC reporting experience at a public or pre-IPO company in the technology or financial services industry.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the company’s path toward public-company readiness, including drafting key filings, developing SOX processes, and implementing scalable reporting practices.
- Build a comprehensive reporting infrastructure that ensures accurate, cohesive, and timely disclosures across the organization.
- Oversee the preparation and coordination of all SEC filings, working closely with internal teams, external auditors, legal advisors, and investor relations.
- Manage a distributed team responsible for technical accounting and reporting standards, ensuring consistent adherence to U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements worldwide.
- Contribute to materials for management, audit committees, and the board.
- Direct the preparation of U.S. GAAP-compliant financials and evaluate the impact of new accounting standards.
- Research and document accounting positions related to revenue, complex transactions, M&A, equity arrangements, and other key policy areas.
- Advise cross-functional partners on the accounting implications of new products, initiatives, and strategic decisions.
- Oversee critical accounting areas such as SBC, acquisition accounting, lease accounting, and software capitalization.
- Support M&A activities, including due diligence, valuation, and integration of acquired businesses.
- Help drive improvements in the monthly and quarterly close cycle to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Prepare technical documentation and support PCAOB audit requirements.
- Ensure the design and effectiveness of controls related to reporting and accounting policies as part of SOX compliance.
- Lead strategic initiatives aimed at automation, operational enhancement, and reporting optimization.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 15 years of combined experience across audit, SEC reporting, technical accounting, advisory, or national office roles.
- CPA required; familiarity with IFRS is advantageous.
- Prior experience with IPO readiness or public-company reporting is highly valued.
- Strong command of U.S. GAAP with a track record of preparing technical accounting analyses.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to translate complex issues for diverse audiences.
- Collaborative mindset and the ability to build strong relationships across finance, legal, and operational teams.
- Experience with NetSuite preferred.
