Responsibilities:
Finance/Accounting:
- Manage/perform all functions necessary for accounts, including receivables and payables
- Perform all banking functions, including deposits, credit card processing & reconciliations
- Process payroll taxes and forms
- Prepare general ledger entries
- Prepare and manage all accounting tasks, including accrual basis financials, internal financial statements for department leads, cash flow reports, fixed assets, and prepaid expenses
- Manage the preparation of the annual budget
- Prepare documents needed for the 990 and work with the tax accountant
- Prepare documents required for the annual audit and work with the auditor
- Prepare application for any necessary Solicitation Licenses
- Prepare Sales Tax Refund Report
- Administer payroll and retirement contributions semimonthly
- Ensure proper accounting, reconciliation, and financial compliance for all payroll and benefit-related liabilities
- Oversee financial administration of employee benefits, including coordination with brokers on billing and reporting matters
- Partner with Operations on benefits administration, with Operations leading employee communications, enrollment processes, and HR-related compliance
- Manage insurance policies (e.g. D&O, general liability)
- Develop and maintain fiscal risk management policies (e.g., cash movement controls, segregation of duties)
- Coordinate annual insurance renewals and ensure adequate organizational coverage
- Bachelor’s or higher in a relevant field (i.e., accounting)
- CPA is required
- 10 years overall experience with at least 5 years of experience in a similar role
- Experience in non-profit accounting is required
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and execute critical path thinking to maximize efficiency
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Motivated to take initiative and work well both independently and collaboratively
- Familiar with strategies and tools to automate and streamline financial/accounting functions
- Proficient in QuickBooks, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other Office applications

- the individual’s skill sets, experience and training;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco by Highspring believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure.
