Sr. Corporate Tax Accountant POST NUMBER: 473417
Location: Birmingham, AL (Hybrid)
Our client is a large restaurant franchise organization seeking a Senior Corporate Tax Accountant to support its growing tax function. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of core corporate tax responsibilities while developing toward a future Tax Manager position. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local corporate tax filings, including income, franchise, and other entity?level returns
- Support quarterly and annual income tax provisions, including current and deferred tax calculations
- Assist with tax planning initiatives and provide insights to support business decisions and operational growth
- Research tax matters, interpret guidance, and communicate recommendations clearly to leadership
- Respond to tax notices and support audits or inquiries from taxing authorities
- Partner with accounting, finance, and external advisors to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting
- Maintain organized, well?documented tax workpapers and support strong internal controls
- Identify opportunities to improve tax processes, documentation, and performance metrics
- Demonstrate leadership through ownership of responsibilities and mentorship, with potential to grow into a people?management role
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
- 3–7 years of relevant tax experience in public accounting, industry, or a combination of both
- Strong foundation in corporate tax concepts and compliance
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple deadlines and priorities
- Interest in owning the role and growing into increased responsibility over time
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem?solving skills
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain tax matters to non?tax stakeholders
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting corporate tax functions in a multi?entity or multi?state environment
- Exposure to income tax provisions and ASC 740
- Experience partnering closely with leadership or reporting to senior?level stakeholders
- Familiarity with tax software and Excel?based workpapers
- CPA or CPA?eligible preferred
- Demonstrated interest in leadership development, mentorship, or team growth
