Role Summary
We are seeking an analytical and detail-oriented accounting professional with exceptional Excel skills to support financial operations. This role focuses on process automation and leveraging advanced Excel tools (including VBA) to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reporting insights. The position also contributes to SEC, regulatory, and internal reporting. The ideal candidate has strong accounting expertise, technical aptitude, and thrives in a collaborative environment, with opportunities to expand across various accounting and reporting functions.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot Excel macros; utilize advanced formulas to improve processes, enhance data analysis, and reduce errors
- Gather, analyze, and transform data into actionable financial insights
- Prepare and maintain financial summaries and reports
- Assist with financial statement disclosures, including XBRL tagging and reporting
- Support regulatory reporting requirements, including Call Reports and Y-9 filings
- Prepare federal and state tax workpapers
- Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and account reconciliations
- Research and document compliance with U.S. GAAP and other regulatory requirements
- Provide audit support and respond to audit inquiries
- Participate in special projects, cross-functional initiatives, and process improvement efforts
- Cross-train across various departmental functions
Requirements
- 5 years of professional accounting experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VBA (required)
- Experience with process automation, workflow improvements, and troubleshooting automated solutions
- Strong ability to research and interpret accounting guidance
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and cross-train
Preferred:
- Experience with multi-entity close and consolidations
- Familiarity with banking regulations, FFIEC, and SEC reporting
- Experience with Wdesk or similar reporting platforms
