Senior Tax Accountant POST NUMBER: 472597
We are seeking a detail-oriented Sr Tax Accountant to provide professional support to our client's Tax Department and help ensure the goals and objectives of Financial Operations are met. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical expertise, analytical skills, and experience in tax compliance, accounting, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of tax compliance, including preparation of workpapers and timely filing of returns, such as:
- Sales and use taxes for Florida and Puerto Rico
- Income tax withholding for Puerto Rico service providers
- Other state and local filings as required
- Perform monthly reconciliation and accounting of tax liability accounts
- Prepare additional returns and supporting workpapers as assigned (e.g., Form 990, 990T, 1041, 5500)
- Assist with the operation and maintenance of ProSystem tax filing software
- Stay up-to-date with tax law changes in Florida and Puerto Rico, providing updates to leadership and relevant departments
- Recommend, create, and update policies and procedures as needed
- Provide training and guidance to staff on tax compliance, reporting, and processes
- Support month-end and fiscal year-end processes, including workpaper preparation, reconciliations, and account analysis
- Participate in special projects, meetings, and occasional travel to other offices or off-campus locations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required; Master’s and/or CPA preferred
- Minimum 4 years of experience in accounting or tax-related roles
- Familiarity with fund or not-for-profit accounting principles
- Strong knowledge of tax accounting rules and regulations for non-profits
- Proficient in Excel and Access, with ability to work in Word
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Highly organized with attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Strong workpaper skills and ability to apply annual changes in tax reporting
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with Banner Financial Systems
