Senior Accounting Manager POST NUMBER: 474179
Dallas, TX – Hybrid, 2 Days Onsite
Vaco is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accounting Manager to lead a large, high-performing corporate accounting team within a dynamic, publicly traded Fortune 100 environment. Will have 8-10 reports including a few managers (very large accounting team as a whole- 70 employees).
It’s a very complex accounting environment and Sr. Managers will be ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements and driving process excellence across the close and reporting cycles.
Compensation: $170-195K Bonus
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a large corporate accounting team (managers, seniors, and staff)
- Establish clear performance expectations and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- Drive organizational design and talent development initiatives to support growth and scalability
- Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
- Review complex journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
- Partner with SEC reporting team to support 10-K, 10-Q, and other filings
- Ensure adherence to U.S. GAAP, internal policies, and SOX controls
- Evaluate and document technical accounting issues, including new accounting standards
- Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate efficient audits and reviews
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting operations
- Leverage automation and ERP capabilities to enhance efficiency and control environment
- Support system implementations, upgrades, and integrations as needed
- Partner with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and business unit finance teams to ensure alignment
- Provide accounting guidance on business initiatives, transactions, and new projects
- Support executive leadership with insights and analysis as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA nice-to-have
- 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting (Big 4 preferred)
- Experience in a publicly traded company environment with SEC reporting exposure
- Proven experience managing and developing large teams
- Experience in a Fortune 500 / Fortune 100 company
- Strong background in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
