Job Description:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited institution required.
- At least five years of accounting experience, focusing on sales tax, payroll, and account reconciliations.
- Ability to analyze reconciliation results and propose necessary adjustments.
- Strong grasp of accounting principles and standards, with the ability to analyze data and apply these principles accurately.
- High proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent team player with active listening skills and confident communication abilities.
- Capable of working independently.
- Skilled in identifying, researching, and suggesting solutions for process improvements.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX accounting and ADP Payroll is a plus.
Responsibilities:
State Tax Filing:
- Prepare and review monthly/quarterly sales and use tax filings for multiple states, including researching state-specific requirements.
- Generate annual informational reports related to multi-state income taxes.
- Demonstrate strong research and analytical skills related to state tax laws, including nexus rules, business registration, and reporting requirements.
- Manage annual report filings for various states and entities.
General Ledger Duties:
- Perform monthly reconciliations of G/L accounts for assigned balance sheet accounts.
- Communicate variances requiring adjustments with detailed explanations.
- Analyze account details, identify issues, and propose solutions.
- Process monthly recurring and closing entries, including prepaid expenses and expense allocations.
- Produce various monthly reports for Service Centers.
- Prepare year-end audit schedules for financial audits.
- Other duties as assigned.
Fixed Asset Management:
- Review and reconcile fixed assets in the general ledger monthly, according to company policy.
- Prepare annual multi-state tangible property tax returns, due April 1.
- Develop year-end audit roll-forward schedules for fixed assets.
- Maintain lease files and prepare year-end schedules for financial audits.
Payroll Support:
- Review bi-weekly payroll for accuracy and ensure proper employee payments.
- Provide backup support for payroll processing to the HR Department.
- Address any discrepancies or inconsistencies in payroll processes.
- Generate payroll reports for the HR Department as needed.
- Assist the HR Department with any accounting-related tasks.
