Location: Miramar, FL
Schedule: Schedule 9am-6pm Monday - Friday
Pay: $20/hour Overview:
The Home Health Referral Coordinator is responsible for processing, evaluating, and coordinating patient referrals for Home Health services. This position ensures patients receive appropriate services based on their medical needs while maintaining timely, accurate, and compliant referral processing.
The Referral Coordinator works closely with healthcare providers, patients, insurance carriers, and internal teams to coordinate appropriate Home Health services across contracted health plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and evaluate incoming referrals for Home Health services.
- Coordinate appropriate services based on patient needs, medical necessity, and payer requirements.
- Manage order intake, insurance verification, and authorization processes.
- Review referral documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Verify coverage and authorization requirements across contracted health plans.
- Apply knowledge of medical necessity guidelines, including LCD/NCD requirements.
- Coordinate Home Health services and applicable DME and enteral supplies.
- Communicate with physicians, healthcare providers, patients, insurance carriers, and other stakeholders regarding referral status and documentation needs.
- Obtain and follow up on missing orders, clinical documentation, authorizations, or other required information.
- Maintain accurate patient and referral records.
- Ensure all referrals are handled in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations and payer guidelines.
- Help resolve referral, coverage, authorization, and documentation issues to prevent delays in patient care.
Required Qualifications
- Prior Home Health experience is required.
- Experience working specifically with enteral supplies is required.
- Experience with healthcare referral processing, order intake, or utilization management.
- Knowledge of DME categories and Home Health services.
- Experience with insurance verification and payer authorization procedures.
- Understanding of medical necessity guidelines, including LCD/NCD requirements.
- Familiarity with documentation requirements for Home Health and enteral services.
- Knowledge of applicable state and federal healthcare regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple referrals and priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual Spanish preferred.
- Experience coordinating services across multiple health plans or payers.
- Strong background working with providers, patients, and insurance companies in a referral coordination environment.
