Compensation & Benefits

Compensation Clarity:
Base salary for this role is set within a defined range. Final base salary placement is determined based on a candidate’s experience, leadership scope, and alignment with the role’s responsibilities. In alignment with a performance?driven culture, discretionary incentive opportunities tied to individual and business results provide additional compensation upsid

Base Salary:
$185,000 - $190,000 per year (commensurate with experience).
Final base salary placement within this range will reflect the candidate’s background, scope of prior responsibility, and overall fit for the role.

Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA):
A 10% cost of living adjustment applies to this role based on location. The COLA is administered separately from base salary and in accordance with company policy.

Short Term Incentive (STIP):
Target 40% discretionary annual bonus opportunity, tied to individual and business performance. Eligibility begins following the first full performance year, subject to plan terms and performance outcomes.

Long Term Incentive Plan (LTIP):
Participation in a discretionary long term incentive program may be available, subject to annual grant timing, eligibility requirements, and plan terms.

Total Target Compensation:
Competitive and market aligned, reflecting base salary, a 10% location based cost of living adjustment, and discretionary short and long term incentive opportunities tied to individual and business performance.

Company Vehicle:
Provided (insurance and gas included).


Overview

Vaco/Highspring has been engaged by a nationally recognized industry leader to identify a senior regional HR leader supporting a large, multi state field operation. This role aligns directly with the company’s national HR and Talent strategy, partnering closely with corporate HR leadership and field operations to drive workforce effectiveness across the West Coast.

The Sr. Director, Regional HR - West Coast Field Operations will lead people operations and workforce strategy across multiple states, working closely with corporate leadership and on-site operations teams to strengthen engagement, retention, compliance, and labor relations in a dynamic, high-volume environment.

Key Role Requirements

Location & Travel:
100% onsite role based in San Francisco, with approximately 50% travel across the West Coast (air and car). Candidates must currently reside in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Proactive, highly motivated, and comfortable operating with autonomy in a fast?paced, operationally complex environment.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of 7 HR Business Partners supporting multi state field operations.

  • Build strong, trust based relationships with frontline leaders and executive stakeholders, ensuring people strategies align with business outcomes.

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leaders on workforce planning, retention, engagement, and organizational effectiveness.

  • Oversee core HR functions including employee relations, talent acquisition, compensation, payroll, compliance, and workforce development.

  • Lead union negotiations and labor relations, balancing business objectives with workforce needs.

  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, employee engagement, and operational excellence.

  • Partner closely with HR COEs and Operations to ensure consistent, high quality people practices.

  • Provide counsel on complex employment matters, risk management, and HR policy interpretation.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • 8 years of progressive HR leadership experience, including management of multi site teams

  • Demonstrated success driving engagement, retention, and performance outcomes across large, distributed hourly workforces

  • Proven, hands on experience with union negotiations and labor relations

  • Industry background in environments such as retail, hospitality, manufacturing, logistics, or restaurant operations

  • Strong command of employment law, compliance, and workforce metrics

  • Ability to operate effectively in fast moving, customer facing, and production driven settings

  • Data driven, collaborative, and effective at influencing executive stakeholders

  • MBA and/or SHRM certification preferred
