Interim Controller/Financial Analyst (temp to hire) POST NUMBER: 478884
Our client, a well?established organization, is seeking an Interim Controller to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives during a transition period.
This position is primarily onsite in Menlo Park, CA, and the engagement is expected to last 3 months.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day?to?day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger activity, and cash management
- Manage month?end close processes, including reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules
- Prepare and present financial reporting packages, including budget?to?actual analysis and variance reporting
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies across all financial activities
- Serve as primary liaison for audit and tax activities, coordinating with external stakeholders
- Oversee indirect tax filings and regulatory reporting requirements
- Manage fixed assets, depreciation, and capital project accounting, including capitalization decisions and tracking of ongoing projects
- Support inventory?related accounting, accruals, and variance analysis
- Perform financial modeling, forecasting, and ad hoc business analysis to support leadership decision?making
- Analyze operational and financial data to generate actionable insights
- Lead, mentor, and support accounting team members, ensuring development and strong execution
- Partner cross?functionally with operational leaders to support financial transparency and responsiveness
- Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and control enhancements
- Support financial planning, reporting improvements, and broader accounting initiatives
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred
- 5 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including leadership responsibilities
- Experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager role preferred
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and financial reporting experience
- Experience with capital projects, fixed assets, and operational accounting environments preferred
- Advanced Excel and strong analytical skills
- Proven ability to operate both strategically and hands?on
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem?solving skills
