Accounts Receivable Manager
Location: Birmingham, AL | Onsite | Full-Time
Salary: $75,000 - $95,000
Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Manager to lead a high-performing AR function with a strong emphasis on credit, risk, and collections strategy. This role will oversee day-to-day AR operations while partnering with leadership to improve cash flow, manage customer credit risk, and drive process improvements across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the full accounts receivable cycle, including billing, collections, cash application, and aging management
- Lead and develop the AR team while establishing clear performance metrics and accountability
- Manage customer credit approvals, credit limits, and payment terms based on financial analysis and risk tolerance
- Monitor AR aging, DSO, and credit exposure to proactively identify and mitigate risk
- Partner with sales and operations to resolve delinquent accounts and support customer relationships
- Develop and enforce credit policies, procedures, and collection strategies to improve cash flow
- Handle escalated customer accounts, negotiate payment plans, and drive resolution of disputes
- Prepare reporting and forecasts related to AR performance, credit exposure, and cash collections
- Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and system enhancements
Qualifications
- 5 years of progressive experience in accounts receivable, credit, or collections
- Prior leadership experience managing AR, credit, or collections teams
- Strong background in credit analysis, risk assessment, and customer credit management
- Experience working with AR aging reports, DSO metrics, and cash flow forecasting
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with both internal stakeholders and customers
